"Make Barbuda Beautiful Again"
Our sister island of Barbuda has been devastated by Hurricane Irma and is in desperate need of your help. We are collecting donations in-app and online, and all funds received will be used by TickeTing Inc. to purchase food and supplies which will be given directly to the residents of Barbuda.
Donations are currently closed.
What's happening with the donations?
10/3/2017 - With the help of the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), the first thing we did was work alongside the Barbuda Council to address their most immediate concern: housing the displaced residents of Barbuda. The Barbudans were for the most part forced to stay in "refugee camp"-esque conditions at some buildings that were opened as shelters.
The owner of the old Dove Cove Apartments (who lives abroad), generously offered his property to be used to house some of the Barbudan families indefinitely. The apartments were in need of a few repairs to make them livable again. With the help of some paid Barbudan contractors and workers, your donations went directly towards purchasing the materials that made the transformation possible.
Families have already started to move into these apartments, as well as the others that NODS and other donation agencies are repairing. Before and After pictures are available in the gallery below, as well as an in-depth spending log of every dollar we have spent so far.
11/17/2017 - We visited the shelters at the Sir. Viv. Stadium and the NTTC, and spoke with the shelter managers to find out what the conditions were like and what was needed. The shelters were housing roughly 300 persons with a few "basic essentials", hygiene, and nutritional needs not being met. We got a list of items needed from the shelter managers, reached out to some old and new contacts, and got to work on aiding the shelters.
